Paying homage to the sacred Goddess of the Red Jade (Tui Buay Teng Neng), on the right is the shrine of Lord Guan Yu, and on the left is the shrine of Lord Pun Taikong and Pun Taimaa. According to history, the Goddess of the Red Jade and Lord Guan Yu were brought from Hainan Island, Guangdong Province, China, in the year 1867. At that time, the owner of the shipyard, who had settled in the village of Thalo, was the one who invited the Goddess of the Red Jade from China. He donated two rafts of teak wood to construct a large shrine dedicated to the Goddess and Lord Guan Yu, making it a place of worship for locals and devotees from near and far. Moreover, this shrine also served as a venue for teaching Thai and Chinese languages to the village children. Within the shrine, there is a wealth of fascinating artifacts to see. The goddess's palanquin, imported from China, is a sturdy wooden structure intricately carved throughout with floral and animal designs in traditional Chinese artistry. Additionally, the shrine houses a collection of valuable sacred items that represent the Eight Immortals (Boi Po) in two sets (16 pieces), made specifically from Guangzhou during that era. It is indeed a remarkable place to visit due to the sanctity and miraculous stories surrounding the deities of the Thalo Goddess of the Red Jade shrine, which have become well-known. Every December, a grand ceremony is held to honor the Goddess, attracting people from all directions to participate, with many attending to fulfill vows related to their desire for children.
