Talo Kapo Beach

Tamoan Talokapoor, Yala District.

Talok Kapor, derived from Malay, consists of the words "Talok," meaning "bay," and "Kapor," meaning "lime," which together signifies "Lime Bay." It is located in Talok Kapor Subdistrict, Yalaing District, Pattani Province. Historically, this area was known for collecting seashells, which were then burned to produce quicklime used with betel leaves. It is now believed that the seashells mainly referred to are those of the white clam or cockle, as they are abundant in this bay. Fishermen often gather these clams for their meat, which also serves as an export product for the Yalaing District. Due to the presence of these limestone shells, the area was named Talok Kapor. Today, Talok Kapor is recognized as a tourism community featuring one of Pattani Province's most beautiful beaches and lush mangroves, which contribute to local livelihoods beyond traditional fish farming and fishing activities.
