Mae Tomo Shrine

Sungai Kolok District

The Goddess of the Sea, Mae Thorani, is also known as Mae Maju or Mae Thapthip, representing the same divine entity. There are various legends surrounding her origins, particularly at the gold mines in the Toh Mo Mountain, located in Sukirin District, Narathiwat Province. The locals first established a shrine for her in that area, and later, another shrine was built in Su-ngai Kolok District. Hence, the shrine was named after its origin, which is Toh Mo Mountain, a name that has now been changed to Phu Khaotong Subdistrict.

Province: Narathiwat
