There are monkeys everywhere here! Phra Prang Sam Yot is located on a hill to the west of the railway, near Phra Kaew Shrine. It consists of three consecutive prangs (tower-like structures) connected by a walkway. The central prang stands about 21.5 meters high and showcases the Bayon style of Khmer architecture. Dating back to the 18th Buddhist century, it is constructed from laterite and adorned with beautiful stucco patterns. Originally, Phra Prang Sam Yot served as a Hindu shrine of the Khmer in Mahayana Buddhism. It was later transformed into a temple with a linga base present in all three prangs. During the reign of King Narai the Great, the site was restored and converted into a Buddhist temple. At this time, a brick vihara (hall) was built, featuring a blend of Ayutthayan and European architectural styles in its doors and windows. Inside the vihara, there is a sandstone Buddha statue in the subduing Mara pose, characteristic of early Ayutthaya art.
