Located in Ban Pa Rae, Tambon Bara Hom, this is a historical tourism community rich in heritage. Here, you can find ancient sites dating back nearly 500 years, such as the tomb of Phaya Intira or Sultan Ismail Shah, as well as the tomb of the three queens: Raiya Hiya, Raiya Biru, and Raiya Ungu. Historically, Bara Hom was a Buddhist Malay city within the Kingdom of Langkasuka. Over time, the city transformed into an Islamic state, founded by Phaya Intira, who established the city of Pattani Darussalam. This period of development saw prosperity, with the first production of cannons and the establishment of Pattani as a central hub for trade and the spread of Islam; it became a crucial port for international commerce. Today, the community offers a variety of eco-tourism attractions and activities, such as boat tours led by local residents to explore the mangrove forests and the traditional fishing practices around Pattani Bay. Visitors can enjoy local cuisine and delve into the historical narratives of the community. Additionally, tourists can learn the art of batik printing, featuring unique designs inspired by "Makoh Jawa," meaning "cups and bowls" in Malay. The batik products here have been selected as an OTOP (One Tambon One Product) item for Pattani province. For more information about the Bara Hom tourism community, please call 09 3580 2702.
