This cave was once believed to be inhabited by a hermit named Luab, who practiced meditation here until he acquired profound magical knowledge. After the hermit's passing, the local villagers built a shrine at the cave's entrance and named it "Khao Pu Luab" in honor of the hermit. A short walk from the shrine leads you to the entrance of Khao Pu Luab, which is not located very high above the ground. Inside, the cave features stunning stalactites and stalagmites, sparkling with shimmering scales, creating a mesmerizing sight. The cave is divided into five chambers, some of which contain large pools of spring water. To reach this place, start from Khon Kaen city, taking Route 12 through Chum Phae district. Then, take a right turn onto Route 201, heading toward Loei province. The cave is located about 6 kilometers before Ban Phanok Khao, between kilometers 115 and 116.
