The 42nd national park of Thailand, intriguingly named "Phromjan Forest," covers an area of approximately 433,750 rai. It earned its fascinating name due to its location in the intricately rugged Banthat mountain range, which is lush with tropical rainforests throughout the year. The park's namesake, "Khao Phu, Khao Ya," is derived from the mountains well-known among the locals in Phatthalung, particularly "Khao Phu," which is believed to be a sacred mountain and the dwelling place of the spirit "Ta Phu." This spirit is revered as a semi-divine entity by the people of Khao Phu district and the general public. Highlights of the park include: - **Tarzan House**: This unique accommodation situated in the central part of the park provides a serene atmosphere along the stream, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the close proximity to nature. - **Phahphueng Viewpoint**: Located about 300 meters from the park's office, this viewpoint offers a magnificent vista from the cliffs, especially from February to July when hundreds of wild bees can be seen building their nests along the precipice—an extraordinary sight. - **Macha Phala Cave**: Approximately 2 kilometers from the park's office, this medium-sized cave features three large chambers adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, alongside a wide pool measuring about 200 meters where schools of fish frequently swim, delighting tourists. - **Ruen Thep Nimit Cave (Ta Phu Cave)**: Another stunning cave located within the emblematic mountain of Khao Phu, believed to be the resting place of the spirit "Ta Phu." - **Huay Nam Sai Reservoir**: Located in Moo 5, Wang Ang sub-district, Chao Wat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, this site provides breathtaking scenic views. - **Numerous Beautiful Waterfalls**: Such as the Riang Thong Waterfall, Naan Plio Waterfall, Khuan Pra Waterfall, Pak Jam Waterfall, and Thara Warin Waterfall, among others. **How to Get There**: From Phatthalung province, travel along the Asia Highway towards Khuan Khanun-Khao Phu for about 14 kilometers until you see the signpost leading to the Khao Phu, Khao Ya National Park office, located at Ban Huai Naow in Wang. The park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. **Admission Fees**: Thai citizens: Adults 20 Baht, Children 10 Baht; Foreigners: Adults 100 Baht, Children 50 Baht.
