Step back in time to explore an intriguing chapter of history at the Hoi Gon Kao Battlefield Memorial. This site once served as the operational base for the 3rd Infantry Battalion. The base has been preserved in its original state, allowing visitors to explore its trench systems, bomb shelters, armory, and the very spots where Thai soldiers sacrificed their lives, along with many other significant features. The importance of this historic site lies in its role as a battlefield from the past. On April 9, 1975, insurgents launched an attack here, resulting in the loss of 17 soldiers from the Royal Thai Army’s 21st Infantry Regiment, who were stationed at this base. However, in the end, the military successfully defended the base, while the insurgents suffered heavy casualties.
