Located at the Huai Kon border crossing, directly opposite is the town of Nam Ngum in the Xayaburi Province of Laos. It is situated 138 kilometers from the city of Nan. The market operates every Saturday, starting at 5 AM and lasting until nearly noon. Products available for sale include beautifully woven fabrics featuring flowing water patterns crafted by the Tai Lue people, as well as various consumer goods, such as wild forest products and local delicacies like luk tao (taro). Thai and Laotian citizens are permitted to cross this border every day from 8 AM to 6 PM.
