The Culture Hall of Uttaradit Rajabhat University not only serves as a significant repository for ancient artifacts of the Uttaradit people but also houses the prized relic known as "Yanmhod." This remarkable artifact is a three-tiered, intricately carved wooden palanquin that measures 73 centimeters wide, 3.50 meters long, and 1.45 meters high. It is a masterpiece from the late Ayutthaya period. Prince Narisara Nuvattiwong recorded in his memoir during his official visit to the northern provinces in 1901 that he encountered four such palanquins. The first was located in Manorat District, Chai Nat Province, while two others were found at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat in Phitsanulok Province. Upon arriving in Uttaradit, another was discovered at Wat Tha Sao, presided over by Phra Ratchaphasittikhun (Thong Kham), the provincial monk of Uttaradit. This palanquin was initially located at Wat Ban Dan Kung Yang and was later brought to Wat Tha Sao for safekeeping. Eventually, it was displayed for the public at this Culture Hall, where it remains to this day. Location: Uttaradit Rajabhat University, 27 Injaimi Road, Tha Ith Subdistrict, Mueang Uttaradit District, Uttaradit Province. Visiting Hours: Free admission is available on Thursdays and Sundays only. Groups wishing to visit must request an appointment in advance by contacting Uttaradit Rajabhat University.
