The only royal project in Phayao province, the Pang Kha Royal Development Project, is a royal initiative responsible for overseeing an area of over 20,000 rai. Due to its mountainous terrain, the agriculture in this region resembles that of colder climates. The key water sources include the Mae Kha River and the Nam Ngoen River. The primary aim of the project is to support the local communities, which consist largely of the Yao and Hmong ethnic groups. The project provides agricultural training and supplies appropriate plant varieties for their livelihoods. Nestled within Phu Langa National Park, Pang Kha boasts stunning scenery, earning it the nickname "Guilin of Thailand." This destination has become a popular spot for tourists to catch breathtaking sunsets at the ancient stone plateau. Another highlight of the Pang Kha Royal Project is the rich cultural heritage of the Hmong and Mien tribes. The center hosts displays of their culture, art, and handicrafts, such as embroidered textiles, patterned fabrics, and traditional clothing sewing, as well as silverwork. A souvenir shop showcases handmade products from the local tribes, including bags, home decor, and practical items. During the New Year festival (around Chinese New Year), indigenous people don their traditional attire, adding a vibrant touch to the travel experience that visitors find truly memorable.
