Wat Sri Sutthawas was established in 1937, with notable figures such as Mr. Kantha Lammayos, Mr. Sangwan Muangnonthasi, Mr. Bai Phimkhet, Mr. Roen Disutthi, and Mr. Lan Sritatchanda donating land for the temple. Together with additional land purchased by the temple, this establishment was relocated from Wat Sri Sao Aat in the city center, which had limited space. A new temple was constructed and named Wat Mahasutthithepa-aram initially. However, due to the complexity of the name, it was later changed to Wat Sri Sutthawas, and locals affectionately refer to it as “Wat Loe Long” because of its location on Don Loe Long. In 1966, Wat Sri Sutthawas was selected as a model temple by the Department of Religious Affairs. The administration of the temple has been overseen by a known abbot, Phra Dhammavoralangkarn (Sri Chan Vannaphō) among others. The temple has organized educational activities, including a Dhamma and Pali study school established in 1937, a general studies school opened in 1975, an adult education program initiated in 1971, and a charitable school along with a Sunday Buddhist education center, which began in 1967. Additionally, there is a library within the temple grounds, enhancing its educational offerings.
