Wat Phra Loi in Suphan Buri Province is an ancient temple located by the Tha Chin River with a history of no less than 700 years, dating back to the U Thong period! The atmosphere here is lush and tranquil, and there is also a Fish Park where visitors can enjoy feeding the fish. Importantly, there is the "Rom Mai Chai Nam Market" that opens every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, where you can sample delicious local food and traditional Thai sweets. The highlight of the temple is the "Luang Por Phra Loi," a Buddha statue in the Naga protection posture made of white sandstone, reflecting Lopburi art. It is believed to have floated down the Tha Chin River, and the locals brought it to be enshrined in this temple. Additionally, there is a beautiful four-gabled ubosot (ordination hall) and the preserved remains of Phra Ajarn Taem, a revered former abbot, whose body does not decompose. Getting there is quite easy; Wat Phra Loi is located on the Cultural Road (the route for paying respect to 9 temples) in the Rawa Yai district of Mueang Suphan Buri. Just pin the GPS and go! This temple is truly another sacred and charming tourist spot in Suphan Buri that you should not miss.
