Wat Phra Non Chak Si Worawihan

Wat Phra Non, Chakkrasri Subdistrict.

The Sleeping Buddha at Chakkarasi is a representation of the Buddha in the reclining posture, preaching the miracle to the mighty Asurindrāhu, a giant who believed himself to be larger than humans. To counter this misconception, the Buddha manifested a body that was even larger than that of the giant. Consequently, this "Sleeping Buddha" is a magnificent and lengthy sculpture, constructed by Phra U Thong. It measures 3 "sen," 3 "wa," 2 "sok," 3 "kheub," and 7 "nin," which is approximately 47.40 meters long. The Buddha's head points towards the east while his face is turned to the north, exhibiting extraordinary beauty.
