Wat Tha Krabue is located in Bang Yang Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. There is no concrete evidence regarding the exact year of its establishment, but it is believed to have been built around 1896 (B.E. 2439). Initially, it started as a small temple overseen by an elderly monk. The local villagers referred to it as Wat Tha Khwai, due to the frequent passage of buffaloes in front of the temple, as it is situated by the Tha Chin River. Farmers and merchants brought buffaloes to the area for trade and agricultural work. Later, in 1898 (B.E. 2441), the Venerable Phra Phairoj Wutthachan was appointed by the monastic community as the abbot of Wat Tha Krabue. He undertook the task of constructing and enhancing the temple, establishing various structures such as the ordination hall, a sermon hall, and monk's quarters. It can be said that he was the pioneering force behind the development of Wat Tha Krabue, transforming it into a well-equipped temple for its time. In 1957 (B.E. 2500), the Venerable Abbot passed away. The following year, Phra Khru Sakorn Boonwat (Luang Pho Yat Katapunyo) was appointed as the new abbot, and he continued in this role until the present abbot, Phra Khru Sirisakorn Tham (Jamnong Kungko), took over.
