Located within the national reserve area of the Kala rainforests, Phu Sing mountain range, and the pink grove forests, this stunning landscape covers an area of 12,000 acres. The terrain consists of a sandstone mountain range stretching from north to south, encompassing the districts of Bung Kan and Si Wilai. Phu Sing is a remarkable result of various geological transformations in the Earth's crust, featuring unique rock formations, cliffs, caves, and clusters of differently shaped stones scattered throughout the area. Visitors can marvel at both sunrise and sunset from the summit. Among the highlights of Phu Sing is the "Three Whales Rock," which consists of three large sandstone boulders perched on a high cliff. Viewed from a distance or from aerial photographs, the rock formation resembles a mother whale and her calves, hence the name. This picturesque viewpoint, located to the east of Phu Sing, allows visitors to soak in the breathtaking scenery of Phu Kua forest, Huai Bang Batr, Kaeng Sadok, the sandy riverbanks of the Mekong, and the mountains of Pak Khading in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. It also serves as a wonderful spot for sunrise viewing in the morning. At the base of Phu Sing, there is a tourist information center and restroom facilities, but no accommodations or shops are available. For inquiries, please contact the information center at the General Administration Office of the National Forest Reserve at Kala Rainforest by calling 08 8536 2717 or 08 8563 8852.
