The residents of the community originally belong to the Phu Thai tribe, who migrated from Wieng Angkham, Savannakhet province in Laos. They came alongside the Tai Ka Loeng tribe and established a large settlement in the Renun Khok district. In the past, Ban Na Bua was known as a communist village due to the community's beliefs in the ideology that advocated for equality and justice in society, without exploitation. This led some villagers to align with these ideas and engage in political movements, which culminated in their armed resistance against the state, famously marking the event known as the "Day of the Gunfire" on August 7, 1965. Today, the Ban Na Bua community lives in peace, preserving the identity of the Phu Thai tribe. The residents lead a simple life in harmony with nature while upholding cherished traditions and customs, which have become a distinctive characteristic reflected in their architecture. The local dialect remains Phu Thai, and the community continues to wear traditional attire, perform Phu Thai dance, and practice ceremonies such as the Bai Sri hand-tying ritual. Additionally, there is a learning center in Ban Na Bua that showcases historical artifacts, including buffalo leather sandals and tools that were once used for livelihoods in the past.
