Sra Bo Kaeo Temple, a spiritual center for the local Burmese community, was established in the 19th century and constructed entirely from teak wood. The temple features a functional layout that includes both the Buddha's residence and the monastic quarters within the same building, designed in traditional Burmese architectural style. Originally, the monks were of Burmese descent, but today, the rituals and practices primarily reflect the influences of the Phrae community. In the aftermath of the Kachin rebellion, various ethnic groups have diminished their public presence due to fears of retribution. However, the cultural influences from these ethnicities have seamlessly blended with the local Phrae culture, creating a unique local identity. This is evident in various aspects such as clear noodle desserts, fermented rice dishes, Hung Lay curry, and traditional herbal medicine created by skilled artisans.

The building is divided into the area for religious ceremonies and the living area for monks following Myanmar architectural tradition.
