Brief History

สตูล เป็นจังหวัดที่อยู่ทางตอนใต้ของประเทศไทย (ทางชายฝั่งทะเลอันดามัน) คำว่า สตูล มาจากคำภาษามลายูเกอดะฮ์ว่า เซอตุล แปลว่ากระท้อน ซึ่งเป็นผลไม้ชนิดหนึ่งที่ขึ้นอยู่ชุกชุมในท้องที่นี้ โดยชื่อเมือง นครสโตยมำบังสการา นั้นหมายความว่า สตูล เมืองแห่งพระสมุทรเทวา ดังนั้น "ตราพระสมุทรเทวา" จึงกลายเป็นตราหรือสัญลักษณ์ของจังหวัดมาตราบเท่าทุกวันนี้
