Brief History
ตั้งอยู่ในแอ่งสกลนครและอยู่ในกลุ่มจังหวัดภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบน 1 เป็นจังหวัดชายแดนซึ่งมีพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่ติดฝั่งแม่น้ำโขง ตรงข้ามกับประเทศลาว มีพื้นที่แคบแต่ยาว และมีชื่อเสียงด้านการท่องเที่ยว โดยเฉพาะการชมบั้งไฟพญานาคในวันออกพรรษา
