Brief History
จังหวัดนครนายกเดิมชื่อบ้านนาแต่ภายหลังได้เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็นจังหวัดนครนายก ในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาดินแดนของนครนายกเป็นป่ารกชัฏ เป็นที่ดอนทำนา หรือทำการเพาะปลูกอะไรไม่ค่อยได้ผล มีไข้ป่าชุกชุมผู้คนจึงพากันอพยพไปอยู่ที่อื่นจนกลายเป็นเมืองร้าง ต่อมาพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงทราบความเดือดร้อนของชาวเมืองจึงโปรดให้ยกเลิกภาษีค่านา เพื่อจูงใจให้ชาวเมืองอยู่ที่เดิมทำให้มีคนอพยพมาอยู่เพิ่มมากขึ้นจนเป็นชุมชนใหญ่ และเรียกเมืองนี้จนติดปากว่า เมืองนา-ยก ภายหลังจึงกลายเป็นนครนายกจนทุกวันนี้
