During World War II, the Allied forces used this area as an airfield for supplying food, due to its strategic location and clear visibility. After the war ended, the government designated the area for public use. However, over time, the local population began encroaching on the land, turning it into farmland and building homes. Recognizing that the district of Prakhon Chai was still facing a water shortage, and with more and more residents encroaching on the land, the authorities decided to construct a water reservoir at the airport site. This initiative aimed to halt the encroachment by residents and ensure a sustainable water supply for the community.
