The 56th national park in Thailand, covering the districts of Kuraburi and Takua Pa in Phang Nga province, is one of five parks established to honor the 5th cycle birthday of His Majesty the King on December 5, 1987. The park is characterized by its lush rainforest, serving as a crucial watershed with significant stream sources such as Khlong Kurod, Khlong Tamnang, Khlong Praek Khwa, Khlong Praek Sai, Khlong Bang Daeng, Khlong Bang Wan, Khlong Lak Khet, and Khlong Bang Yai. Abundant wildlife can be found throughout the park, complemented by stunning natural waterfalls. This biodiversity is further enriched by the park's mix of evergreen and semi-evergreen forest, making it a habitat for various plant species such as rubber trees, teak, wild sago, langsat, tiger's eye, manilkara, and snake fruit. The undergrowth is dense with rattan, vines, various medicinal herbs, wild ginger, moss, and different types of ferns, as well as several species of bamboo. Wildlife thrives here, with many species migrating from the forest above the Cheow Lan Dam in Surat Thani due to water barriers. This includes creatures such as sun bears, serows, wild elephants, deer, bears, tigers, barking deer, gibbons, macaques, red bulls, and a rich variety of birds like parrots, jungle fowl, hornbills, and woodpeckers. Reptiles, including turtles, water monitors, and various snakes and lizards, are also prevalent, as well as amphibious species like toads, frogs, and many beautiful fish that inhabit the water holes. The climate in Si Phang Nga National Park is typically humid with abundant rainfall almost year-round, divided into two distinct seasons: the hot season from January to April and the rainy season from May to December. Temperatures remain stable throughout the year, hovering between 26-29 degrees Celsius. The park is located in Bang Wan sub-district, Kuraburi district, Phang Nga province. Entry fees are as follows: for Thai citizens, adults pay 20 baht and children 10 baht; for foreigners, adults pay 100 baht and children 50 baht. Facilities include cabins and camping areas available for rent at 600 baht. For more details, you can call 08 9473 5007, 08 6952 5246, or 08 9650 9135, or visit www.sriphangnga.4mg.com.
