The monument, a striking sculpture made of blackened brass, proudly stands on the sidewalk across from Kanchanapisek Park. It beautifully represents a significant chapter in the history of the people of Phatthalung. During the time when Phra Ya Thukkarat (Choi) was still a monk, he assisted Phra Ya Phatthalung by leading villagers to clash with the Burmese army during the Nine Armies War, ultimately defeating them. After leaving the monkhood, King Rama I graciously appointed him as Phra Ya Thukkarat. This brave and selfless individual played an essential role in ensuring the safety and survival of Phatthalung. In recognition of his heroism, the provincial government of Phatthalung, along with the Phatthalung Municipality, erected this monument in his honor. Additionally, there is a street named Choi Thukkarat, dedicated to him, which lies between Kohasawan Road and Chaiyaburi Road. The monument is located at the intersection of Thamihram within the Phatthalung Municipality area.
