Wat Mongkhon Khiri Khet (Kruba Soi)

21 Moo 1, Tha Song Yang, Tha Song Yang

Paying respects to the body of Phra Kruba Soi, who, despite having passed away, remains untouched by decay. Visitors are welcome to travel to pay homage and seek blessings daily. Known as "Phra Kruba Soi," he was a monk who founded this temple. He was born on Monday, September 28, 1929, coinciding with the full moon day of the 10th lunar month in the Year of the Snake, in Lahan Sai Sub-district, Nang Rong District, Buriram Province. At the age of seven, his parents passed away, leaving him in the care of his grandmother. During his childhood, he had the chance to offer sugar to a wandering monk, who advised him to ordain when he grew up. After completing primary education, his grandmother took him to be ordained as a novice at Wat Chumphon near their home, with Luang Por Muan as his preceptor. At the age of 22, he was fully ordained, again under Luang Por Muan, with Luang Por Sook as his speech teacher and Luang Por Sut as his mentor, receiving the title "Khanti Saro." After his ordination, he respectfully took leave from Luang Por Muan to practice meditation under Luang Por Sook and learn various important skills. In 1954, Luang Por Soi traveled to Bangkok and resided at Wat Mahathat, where he studied and practiced Vipassana meditation for seven months before returning to Buriram as the abbot of Wat Klang Nang Rong. After the rainy season, he bid farewell to his lay supporters to undertake spiritual retreats in various locations. It is said that in 1960, after having breakfast, he felt weak and went to rest. Remarkably, his spirit left his body for the second time, but he revived just one day later. In 1962, he built the temple to ensure it would be a place of correct spiritual practice, hoping that the protecting deities would be aware of its progress. That night, during meditation, a deity appeared to him, inquiring about his intentions. He expressed his desire to improve the temple. During the construction, numerous events unfolded, but by 1963, the temple was completed. He was a monk who profoundly benefited the villagers and his disciples. On December 19, 1998, at 07:19 AM, he passed away at the age of 69, leaving behind a legacy of goodness that continues to resonate in the hearts of his students.
