In late 1966, the Kalasin Province Committee for the Promotion of Buddhism, Culture, and Traditions, chaired by the then Governor of Kalasin, Mr. Buri Promlakkhano, resolved to construct a large Buddha statue on the southern peak of Phu Sing Mountain. This statue was intended to serve as a sacred symbol to anchor the spirits of the people in Kalasin and to be a source of auspiciousness for the community. The construction of the Buddha statue on the slopes of Phu Sing Mountain was a magnificent achievement, made possible through the collaborative faith and support from the monastic community.
