Wat Phra Borom That Jediyaram is an ancient temple that dates back over 600 years to the Sukhothai era. This area, known as "Nakhon Chum," has been home to this royal temple since that time. Historical records discovered from Inscription No. 3 (Nakhon Chum Inscription) state that Phaya Litai of the Sukhothai dynasty commissioned the construction of the Phra Borom That Stupa to enshrine sacred relics and to plant a Sri Maha Bodhi tree from Lanka at the temple. In 1900 A.D., within the temple complex, there stood a large stupa known as the "Phra Borom That Stupa." This ancient stupa, from the Sukhothai period, features three lotus-bud shaped stupas arranged on a single base. The central stupa enshrined nine sacred relics within a silver ship-shaped container. The current stupa is of Mon-style, which underwent renovations afterward. Another significant feature of the temple is the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, which the people of Kamphaeng Phet believe was planted by Phaya Litai in 1900 A.D. This tree is a giant Bodhi tree, with a trunk that requires about nine people to encircle it, standing as a living testament to the area's rich history and spiritual heritage.
