Wat Phra Non Laem Pho

Koh Yor Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District.

Crossing the bridge from Songkhla, or the bridge near Pa Prem Park, you'll arrive at Wat Laem Pho. The highlight here is the large reclining Buddha statue located by the Songkhla Lake, making it a serene place for both body and mind. The views are stunning in the morning and evening. Wat Laem Pho is a historic temple, built in 1830, during the reign of King Rama III. The temple features notable architecture, including the main hall constructed during that time, as well as the bell tower and pagoda. The designs of the reclining Buddha at Wat Laem Pho reflect the architectural style favored in the era, characterized by the absence of finials or decorative elements typical of later periods. Instead, it showcases the early Rattanakosin art style, crafted by local artisans from Southern Thailand. This creates a unique and beautiful masterpiece of Buddhist art that deserves appreciation, study, and preservation as a national heritage for future generations to admire.
