Phung Chang Cave

Tail of the Elephant, Phang Nga Province

Located in Wat Prabhat Prachim Khet, behind the Phang Nga Provincial Hall, this large cave sits at the heart of Elephant Mountain, which resembles a resting elephant and is a symbol of Phang Nga province. The area known as "Elephant's Belly" showcases the marvels of nature, featuring impressive stalactites and stalagmites that leave viewers in awe. It has even been selected as one of the Unseen Thailand attractions. The cave stretches approximately 1,200 meters, and visits are guided by official staff. The journey begins with a canoe ride into the cave, followed by a bamboo raft passage through various rocky channels. Finally, visitors will need to walk on foot to explore the stunning formations of the stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with admission fees of 200 baht for Thai citizens and 500 baht for foreigners. The entire cave visit takes about 1.5 hours.
