The origins of Cheva & Chavee Donut shop trace back to two kids whose family has run a Khao Soi restaurant in Nimmanhaemin for about 10 years. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to impact us today, our restaurant faced severe challenges since nearly all of our customers were tourists. We dealt with numerous alternating closures and openings. During our restaurant's downtime, we found ourselves spending more quality time with family. My mother, a dessert lover, began to invite the kids to help make treats every day in our small condo. We made easy-to-prepare snacks, often inspired by memories of street food from Tokyo, such as Japanese crepes, kanom buang (Thai crisp pancakes), roti, and we even fried our own patongko (Thai donuts). One day, it was finally time to make donuts. Although the process seemed quite complicated, the moment we took our first bite, it sparked a family meeting. We unanimously agreed that we had rediscovered the nostalgic flavor of our childhood donuts (initially, we simply made regular sugar-coated donuts). From that point on, we became enamored with the craft, refining our recipe and enjoying fresh donuts daily. When we had leftovers, we began to share them, and soon enough, those who tried them started asking to buy more. Thus, our selling journey began, transforming from the confines of our condo to a storefront, and eventually expanding into a second location. Our donuts originated from our family, stemming from our own children. Therefore, we assure our customers that our treats are completely safe for everyone’s health.
