When visiting Phuket, you definitely shouldn't miss "Lobster Bang Niew, the traditional recipe"! This place is not just an ordinary restaurant; it's a legend that has been around for over 50 years and has received Michelin Guide awards for four consecutive years. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, making you feel like you're having a meal at a close friend's house in Phuket. Even though it’s a shophouse and not extravagant, the deliciousness and authentic flavors are the true highlights. Getting to the restaurant is very easy. It is located on Ma Luang Road in Phuket town. If you're coming from the Khao Rang intersection, turn into Soi Kiat Sin, and the restaurant will be on your left, across from the old Kiat Sin restaurant. You can easily pin it on Google Maps. In general, Lobster Bang Niew offers local dishes influenced by Hokkien Chinese cuisine. The standout dish is "Lobster," which includes various pork offal such as pig's head, intestines, tongue, pig ears, and more, simmered with five-spice until tender and aromatic. It is then fried until crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside, served with a special dipping sauce that is sour, spicy, salty, and sweet, topped with crushed peanuts. Besides lobster, there are other fried options like deep-fried tofu, fried squid, and fried egg rolls to choose from as well. For those who don’t eat offal, there are also satay and hot bak kut teh available to enjoy. The restaurant is open daily from around 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and I guarantee that once you visit, you'll want to come back again for more!
