Wat Chang Lom is located within the walls of Sukhothai's ancient city, on the southern foothills of Phanom Phleng Mountain. A significant historical site here is the principal stupa in the Lanna style, set upon a square base encircled by a square wall. Surrounding the base of the stupa are 39 plaster elephants facing the wall, with additional elephants positioned at each of the four corners of the stupa. At the front of the main stupa, a staircase leads up to the circumambulation platform. Above the base, there is a portico featuring a seated Buddha in the Mara Victory posture, with a sculpted Bodhi tree forming a backdrop behind the Buddha. Ascending the bell-shaped structure is a throne adorned with 17 low-relief figures of the Buddha's disciples. In front of the main stupa, there is a large hall, accompanied by two smaller halls and two ancillary stupas. One of the most striking features of the elephants here is their distinctive appearance compared to those found at other temples: they stand upright and are significantly larger than real elephants, embellished with a cluster of lotus flowers in plaster at their fronts.
