Laem Prathap

Thong Nian Subdistrict, Khanom District

Laem Pratub, located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, lies at the northern tip of Thong Nian Bay. It is one of the traditional communities in the Thong Nian sub-district, with the majority of residents engaged in coastal fishing. Today, it is renowned as a tourist port, offering boat tours that allow visitors to explore the sea. Among the popular activities are dolphin watching, visiting the freshwater spring in the sea, paying homage to Luang Pu Toh, exploring Khao Phap Pa, the Phum Phuang stage, and taking trips to nearby islands such as Koh Tha Rai and Koh Phi. Visitors can also enjoy snorkeling and fishing. Additionally, Laem Pratub's local community is famous for its shrimp paste, a specialty crafted by local housewives and often purchased by tourists as souvenirs. According to local history, King Taksin once stayed here before continuing his journey to Nakhon Si Thammarat, which over time has evolved into the name "Ban Laem Tab."
