Bhumibol Dam

The Bhumibol Dam is the largest concrete arch dam in Thailand and ranks as the eighth largest in Southeast Asia. It is also recognized as Thailand's first multipurpose dam. Originally named the Yanhee Dam, it was renamed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on July 25, 1957, when he graciously bestowed the dam with its current name. Additionally, His Majesty personally laid the foundation stone for the construction on June 24, 1961.
