Luang Por Sæng Sæ is a sacred Buddha image located at Wat Den Chai, an iconic symbol beloved by the residents of Den Chai District. This impressive statue is crafted from bronze, weighing an astonishing 275 kilograms. It features a seated figure in meditation pose, measuring 32 inches across the lap and standing 42 inches tall, reflecting the artistic style of the Chiang Saen period. Affectionately known as Luang Por Sæng Sæ or Phra Sæng Sæ, this Buddha image is uniquely constructed in separate pieces that are joined together using "sæ," a technique that ensures stability. This design also makes it easier to transport, particularly during times of war when enemies threaten the city. In such circumstances, the local community would disassemble the statue into pieces, placing them into wooden crates to safely evacuate it from the city, preventing enemies from seizing the sacred image. To reach this revered site, you can travel from the Den Chai district office along Highway 101, a journey of 1.9 kilometers.
