Wat Khok Saphan Khao is a public temple of the Maha Nikaya sect. In the past, there was no temple in Ban Khok, which meant that residents had to travel to Wat Anubannapad located in Moo 2, Ban Khao Noi, Tambon Ban Mai Nong Sai, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, to make merit. This journey involved passing through an airport, now known as Suan Kanjanapisek, making it quite inconvenient. At that time, Ban Khok was becoming increasingly populated, prompting Mr. Chao Noi Manee, the former headman of Pa Rai Subdistrict, alongside local residents, to hold a meeting. They concluded that it was essential to establish a temple within the village so that the people of Khok would have a religious site to conduct their spiritual activities and serve as a community gathering place. Together, they generously donated funds to purchase land and construct the Khok Saphan Khao meditation center in 1993. Subsequently, they invited Phra Ajarn Sao Upasan Tho, a monk from Wat Anubannapad, to become the abbot of the new temple.
