Wat U Di Bamrung Tham is believed to have been constructed around 1898. Originally, the temple was named Wat O Ngon. Later, generous donors, Mr. U and Mrs. Dee, offered additional land to expand the temple area. The temple committee of that time decided to change the name from Wat O Ngon to "Wat U Di Bamrung Tham" in honor of the two donors. From that moment on, the new name has been used.
