It is believed that this temple was constructed around 1797 during the reign of King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke Maharaj. The creator was Chao Krom Yaem, who invited Chinese villagers in the area, known for raising pigs for sale, to come together to build the temple, which is why it was originally called "Wat Khok Moo" or "Pig Pen Temple." Later, Somdet Phra Mahasamanna, Krom Phra Yachirayanvorakos, renamed the temple to better reflect its creator, changing it to "Wat Sitaram," which means "Temple built by Chao Krom Yam." Wat Sitaram was granted royal approval for its boundary in the reign of King Nangklao (Rama IV), around 1848.
