This temple is home to ancient relics and artifacts collected from various eras of the past. The term "Salaeng" refers to a type of wildflower, a perennial plant with delicate white blossoms. The flower resembles that of the pip tree or the "Kasalong," featuring a pointed shape akin to an ancient spear. The reason this temple is named after the Salaeng flower is rooted in legend. It is said that during the time of the Buddha, when His Holiness arrived at Don Salaeng, or Salaeng Kaew Don Mool, or Don Salaeng Luang, the local lord and townspeople gathered to offer alms. After the Buddha finished His meal, the two queens, Nang Kamfun and Nang Kamfay, brought Salaeng flowers to present to Him as an offering of homage.
