"Wat Suan Tan" is an ancient temple that has been a part of the Nan community for almost 600 years. It was built during the reign of Queen Phatummavadi, the consort of Prince Phukeng, the ruler of Nan around the year 1955 B.E. The temple is located outside the northern wall of Nan city, where there used to be a royal sugar palm grove. This historical context is reflected in the temple's name, which is derived from the grove itself. Additionally, Wat Suan Tan is home to the revered “Phra Oeang Thongthip,” a large bronze Buddha statue that holds significant spiritual importance.
