The origin of Wat Phra Yot Khun Phol in Wiang Kah Long dates back to its establishment on the land surrounding the Udomtham Monastery, located in Wang Nuea District, Lampang Province. The faithful community gifted this area to the revered Phra Ajarn Thamsathit of Wiang Kah Long. The terrain was once agricultural land tended by farmers and bears traces of the historical significance of the ancient city of Wiang Kah Long. Artifacts such as ancient kilns and shards of glazed pottery reflect the cultural traditions and historical remnants of the area. The Udomtham Monastery is situated in a geographic setting that is deemed ideal for spiritual practice, enveloped by valleys and nourished by flowing streams. The entire area also partly lies within the boundaries of the Khun Wang Mae Pai National Forest Reserve, specifically in block 3 of Wang Nuea District, Lampang Province.
