In the era following the passing of Phra Mongkhon Thepmuni, his disciples, including Mae Chee Jan Khannokyoung, continued to pass down the teachings of the Dhamma practice to a new generation of students at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen. At that time, Chai Buny Sutthaphol was studying at Kasetsart University. In 1963, Chai Buny visited Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen after reading an article in the Vipassana Banterng Sar, which praised Mae Chee Jan's remarkable qualities. Chai Buny invited fellow students to participate in activities at the temple, which led to a growing group of Mae Chee Jan's disciples. Among them was a man named Phadet Phongsawat, who later ordained as a monk and became Deputy Abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, known as Phra Phadet Tattachivo. In 1969, Chai Buny himself was ordained as a monk, receiving the name "Dhamma Chayo," and began teaching meditation at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen alongside Mae Chee Jan. As the number of disciples grew significantly, it became increasingly challenging to organize activities at the temple. Consequently, on February 20, 1970, Mae Chee Jan, Phra Dhamma Chayo, and Phra Tattachivo, along with their disciples, moved to establish a new meditation center on a 196-rai plot of land in Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. This marked the inception of Wat Phra Dhammakaya.
