The Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal is an incredibly interesting tourist attraction in Ayutthaya, located in the heart of the island city, near Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Khun Phan Palace. This is the center for elephants and the original site of the Royal Elephant Bureau, which has been training royal elephants since the Ayutthaya period. The atmosphere here is filled with historical stories and the bond between humans and elephants. A highlight is riding elephants to explore ancient sites, touring the old city around the city pillar to Phra Ram Pond. You will have the opportunity to closely experience the lifestyle of Thai elephants, including feeding them, taking pictures with them, and enjoying the show of their trained abilities. Particularly on weekends and public holidays, there are charming shows featuring baby elephants, as well as activities like crawling under the elephants for good luck. Getting here is very convenient; from Bangkok, it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car or approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by train. The Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is an experience not to be missed when visiting Ayutthaya!
