On our journey to Chiang Mai, we stopped by Mae Rim district and enjoyed a meal at "Krua Long Khao," which is open for business as usual. The restaurant offers a close-to-nature atmosphere, with a cool and pleasant breeze, allowing us to savor a variety of local dishes. We started with the "Northern Thai Appetizer Platter," featuring two types of chili dips: a rich minced pork dip and a fragrant, perfectly spicy green chili dip. Next up was the "Crispy Butterfly Pea Salad," a highlight on the menu. This dish combined crispy butterfly pea flowers with a delectable spicy sauce, making it a delightful signature dish. We also tried the "Crispy Chang Da Leaf Salad," another popular salad using the herbal Chang Da leaves from the Lanna region. The dressing differs slightly from the butterfly pea salad, as it includes coconut milk for added richness. Honestly, just the crispy leaf itself is delicious! For our main courses, we enjoyed "Hang Lay Curry," featuring hearty chunks of pork belly with both meat and skin, packed with flavor. We also had "Fish Curry," which was rich and flavorful, filled with generous pieces of tuber and fish. Pairing it with warm sticky rice made it even more tempting! We washed it all down with refreshing "Butterfly Pea Lemonade" or "Jasmine Butterfly Pea Tea." You can choose between a refreshing variant or a fragrant one, both were absolutely delicious! The menu offers a multitude of options for food enthusiasts to explore. Don’t miss the spicy sausage or various chili dips available for takeout, all set in a pleasant atmosphere where the food truly shines.
