Udon Thani City Museum

Mak Khaeng Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District

The grand museum showcases local art, culture, and archaeological artifacts, as well as the history of the city. It is a two-story colonial-style building featuring a classic architectural design harmoniously integrated with Thai elements, constructed of brick and mortar, adorned with a distinctive gable roof and arching windows that are rare to find in the Isan region. On the first floor, there are 11 rooms that tell the story of Udon Thani Province, covering aspects such as history, archaeology, natural sciences, geology, local history, and cultural heritage. It also highlights the life and accomplishments of Prince Prajak Silpakom, the founder of Udon Thani. The second floor consists of 15 rooms dedicated to depicting the lifestyle of the people of Udon Thani in various aspects. Here, visitors can find recreations of a classroom, a historical train station from the era of the 1939 railway incident, as well as a traditional coffee shop, a photography studio, and a barbershop reminiscent of the past.
