The Yousuk Suwan Museum is named after Mr. Narong Yousuk Suwan, affectionately known by the locals in Prachinburi as "Hea Phan." Initially, he made a living by buying and selling old items, focusing primarily on scrap metal. In the early days, he would often find storm lanterns mixed in with the metal scraps but didn't pay them much attention, selling them at the same price as the scrap metal. However, the situation changed when he discovered that some buyers were willing to pay a flat rate for the lanterns, significantly more than the per-kilogram price of scrap metal – they offered 50 baht each. Recognizing the growing interest, he began to separate the lanterns for resale, as people sought them out for decorative purposes and to sell to foreign buyers at higher prices. This led to a remarkable increase, with prices soaring to 100 baht per lantern – a considerable amount at that time. Thus, the museum was established to showcase this diverse collection of storm lanterns.
