Experience the way of life of the Bang Khun Thian community through the Bang Khun Thian Museum, formally known as the Local Museum of Bangkok, Bang Khun Thian District. This museum was initiated to promote understanding of the local history, culture, and wisdom. Set within the Khlong Phitthayalongkorn School in Thakham Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian, the museum showcases the daily life of the Bang Khun Thian people, the history behind the district's name, the area’s fruit orchards, including the famous Bang Mod orange grove, traditional rice farming practices, ancient household items, a dragon-shaped basin from the reign of King Rama V, various dishes, coins, ancient charms and amulets, mortar and pestles, fishing tools, rice milling machines, and water pumps. Many of the displayed items have been donated by local residents, who also contribute any other antiquities they believe might be of interest, allowing the museum to preserve and care for these artifacts. Additionally, the museum presents aspects of art, history, and archaeology relevant to the community, along with stories of the local economy and self-development. Visitors can learn about the geographical layout of Bangkok, the historical routes of King Taksin the Great, and notable figures from Bang Khun Thian, such as Sunthorn Phu and King Nangklao. The area is also home to natural attractions, including mangrove forests and points of interest throughout the district. Moreover, visitors can rent bicycles to explore the mangrove forests or take part in the saltwater farming projects in the area. This makes the museum an excellent spot for a relaxing visit on a weekend getaway. Location: Khlong Phitthayalongkorn School, Bang Khun Thian - Chaipattana Road, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok.
