It is believed that the ancient city of Phai dates back to the 12th to 14th Buddhist century, during the early Dvaravati period. This historical significance adds to the allure of the Phai Temple, which features an ancient pagoda constructed from stacked bricks in a rectangular shape, adorned with projecting corners. The intricate carvings showcase floral and vine motifs, along with human figures that reflect the artistic style of the Dvaravati era. Additionally, a variety of artifacts have been discovered in the area, including a green stone Dharma wheel from the Dvaravati period, a statue from Lopburi, a sandstone Buddha head, and a Dvaravati-style Buddha image. These valuable relics are currently housed in the National Museum Bangkok. In 1969, the Fine Arts Department officially designated Phai Temple as a national historical site, welcoming visitors from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
