Phanom Wan Stone Castle shares a similar architectural style with Phimai Stone Castle, suggesting that both were constructed around the 16th century of the Buddhist era, during the art period of Baphuon. Phanom Wan Stone Castle is a representation of ancient Khmer beliefs and is located approximately 16 kilometers from downtown Korat, along the highway towards Phimai - Khon Kaen. When you reach a traffic light intersection, there will be signs pointing the way. On the right-hand side, you can spot a multi-purpose area belonging to the local administration as a landmark. After driving about 5 kilometers further, you will arrive directly at the stone castle. Phanom Wan Stone Castle is the fifth largest stone castle in Thailand, first built around the 15th century during the Khmer Kér-Bakeng period. Originally consisting of five towers, the site underwent subsequent construction in the nearby era, culminating in a total of ten brick structures. On the eastern side, there exists a large community reservoir known as "Sa Phleng." Thank you for the information from Mr. Woranay Pongsachalakorn.
