Khon Kaen Airport is located in Ban Ped sub-district, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province, approximately 8 kilometers to the west of the city center and 2 kilometers from Highway 12. Covering an area of 1,113 rai, it is an airport under the Department of Airports. The airport serves five airlines: Thai Smile, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai AirAsia, and Thai VietJet. It provides routes from Khon Kaen to Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Phuket. It is equipped with basic facilities and a public transportation system connecting to the city of Khon Kaen. To accommodate the growth of Khon Kaen Province, there are ongoing expansions of the airport, including enhancements to the terminal building, runways, and other facilities, aiming to develop it into an international airport in the future.
